What should I add to my program for Training, Performance & Recovery?

Volleyball and BodyHelix

Tom Parker, MD

Our athletes have informed us that the PatellaHelix is ideal for volley ball players. We learned that these athletes wear a patellar support under their knee pads for management of Jumper’s Knee (patellar tendonitis), a very common injury for sports that involve jumping. During the May 23, 2011 Mid-Atlantic Power League Volleyball Tournament one of the players replaced a competing product that she had been using with the PatellaHelix. She and her team mates were quick to abandon the traditional uncomfortable support because of the pain and discomfort associated with the excessive compression and hard, cord like structure.

We are pleased to learn of this benefit of the PatellaHelix. The players tell us that it fits comfortably under the knee pads worn to save the knees from the trauma of the repeated dives. The current popular device, however, damages the patellar tendon with the repeated falls so athletes get into the Catch 22 of a device that is supposed to help with a problem but actually makes it worse.

Amy Dillingham is our Ambassador who came upon this important feedback from our customers. She will be introducing the PatellarHelix, along with Lucky Dog Volley Ball to tournament players around the country. We hope you’ll take a look at our products at our booths.
